I spent a few days cycling along the length of Hadrian’s Wall with my dad, finishing off in Newcastle on parkrun eve (otherwise known as Friday).
We stayed with my aunt and uncle, Elaine and Brian, and cousins Sam and Matthew the night before, and Matthew decided to come and join us on the parkrun.
The course is a single, flat-ish lap round the Town Moor. There are lots of cows and it’s a marshal-heavy course as people have to hold various gates open, letting through all the runners but none of the cows.
I ran round with Matthew, who set a good consistent pace through the first 4k of the run, so we were able to up the pace for the final kilometre. We finished in just under 33 minutes (see results). My dad committed the cardinal sin of forgetting his barcode (and the password for his email account, which meant we couldn’t print off a new one) but promises he finished in under 25 minutes.
Well done to Matthew on his first parkrun (9 more until the first t-shirt!). And thanks to Elaine, Brian, Sam and Matthew for having us to stay.
Thanks also to the fantastic volunteers for putting on such a great event 🙂
I’m running a different parkrun every week of the year to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Please head over to my JustGiving page if you’re able to help out. Thanks!
